CONFERENCE ALLYS

Conferences provide effective avenues for making a meaningful impact in the community, and they require our support to become more accessible, diverse, and inclusive. Agile in Color supports conferences by offering consultation and educational resources for both organizers and participants, focusing on the following areas:

Impact

Greater Diversity Representation – We can review your conference submissions and assess speaker gender and diversity ratios, offering tailored advice to enhance them over time. We also have excellent tool recommendations and creative ideas to boost your event’s inclusivity!

Speaker Fee Transparency – While we understand that not all conferences can afford to pay speakers, we emphasize the importance of transparency regarding covered expenses and for whom. We encourage speakers to seek fair compensation and offer guidance on negotiation to ensure they are appropriately recognized and compensated whenever possible. Additionally, we can assist with securing event sponsorship!

Event Sponsorship – When funds are limited, Women in Agile is open to exploring alternative ways to support conferences and events that align with our mission. Contact us to learn more about sponsorship opportunities. Note: Women in Agile requires compliance with our guidelines and does not provide event planning or management services—that’s where your creativity comes in!

Universal Code of Conduct – Conferences and events should offer a safe, inclusive space for networking and learning. However, some events lack proper codes of conduct or do not enforce existing policies. Women in Agile provides consultation and templates to establish effective codes of conduct and encourages participants to advocate for their implementation and enforcement.

Thank you to Agile Alliance for being our Conference Allyship program sponsor. They have supported our organization since it’s inception as an Agile Alliance initiative and provided space for the annual WiA event with their conference since 2016.
